II. PREPARATION -Grammar: Present simple, expressions -New language: old English, congratulate, nominate, charity III.TEACHING AIDS -Pictures IV.PROCEDURES Student’s activities Teachers’ activities Content 1.WARM UP (5’) - Ask Ss to tell some celebrations in Vietnam and worldwide. - Ask Ss some questions. - Tell - Answer - In which country do people celebrate Lunar New Year? - When do people celebrate it? - What do they do? 2.PRE-SPEAKING (5’) - Ask Ss some questions. - Have Ss read the situation a). - Give an example. 3.WHILE-SPEAKING (10’) - Ask Ss to give and respond. - Check. - Correct if necessary. 4.POST-LISTENING (3’) - Have Ss read the lesson again. - Check. 5.PRE-LISTENING (5’) - Ask Ss some questions. - Introduce the song and guide Ss to listen. 6.WHILE-LISTENING (10’) - Play tape twice. - Give feedback. -Answer -Work in pairs -Correct. - Read. - Correct. -Answer - Listen to the tape. - Fill in the missing words - Correct. - When do people give a compliment to others? - Do you usually give a compliment? Hao: That’s very kind of you . - What do western people do on New Year’s Eve? - Which song is sung? - Do you know the song “Auld Lang Syne”? *Listen to the song Auld Lang Syne and fill in the missing words a-days b-take c-mind d-hand c-kindness 7.POST-SPEAKING(4’) - Have Ss sing the song. - Check. - Sing the song in chorus and in individual. *Some situations - Passing the final exam. - Graduating from university. - Winning the first prize in a singing contest. - Making a birthday card. * The song. 8.HOMEWORK (3’) - Write the lesson into their exercise notebooks. - Remember how to give and respond to a compliment. - Prepare “Read” IV.
