The spaceship flew around the new planet several times. The planet was blue and green. They couldn't see the surface of the planet because there were too many white clouds. The spaceship descended slowly through the clouds and landed in the middle of a green forest. The two astronauts put on their space suits, opened the door, climbed carefully down the ladder, and stepped onto the planet. The woman looked at a small control unit on her arm and said to the man. "We can breathe the air... it's a mixture of oxygen and nitrogen”. They looked at everything carefully. All the plants and animals looked new and strange. They couldn't find any intelligent life.
After several hours, they returned to their spaceship. Everything looked normal. The man switched on the controls, but nothing happened. The engines were not working. He switched on the computer, but it didn't work, either. "Mary," he said, "we're stuck here... we can't take off!”. She replied "Don’t worry, John. They'll rescue us soon."

In Britain, natural gas is the most popular fuel. It is used for heating homes and cooking. It is piped all over the country from the gas fields below the North Sea. Natural gas is used chiefly as a direct source of energy, although it is also used in the chemical industry. At the moment the supply is plentiful, but it will be running short by the end of the century, and will run out during the 21 st unless new supplies are found. We could do without natural gas, as coal as gas can be used as a substitute, and there should be enough coal to last for severat centuries. However, it is a form of energy which is not only cheap, but also highly efficient.
