              Đại từ quan hệ : WHO,WHOM, WHICH, THAT

+ Who :    thay thế cho từ chỉ người đứng trước nó/ làm chủ từ cho mệnh đề sau.

+ Whom:  thay thế cho từ chỉ người đứng trước nó/ làm tân ngữ cho mệnh đề sau.

+ Which : thay thế cho từ chỉ vật, con vật đứng trước nó làm chủ từ và tân ngữ cho mệnh đề sau.

Ví dụ: 	1.The woman who wears a hat is my sister.
 	2. The man whom you saw yesterday is your teacher.
3. The book which is on the table is very interesting.
4. The bag which you are holding in your hand is mine.
+ That : có thể thay thế cho who, whom, which ở 4 câu trên.
1.The woman that wears a hat is my sister.
2.The man that you saw yesterday is your teacher.
3.The book that is on the table is hers.
4.The bag that you are holding in your hand is our teacher.
Note: Whose dùng để thay thế cho tính từ sở hữu of which/ whose thay thế cho từ chỉ sở hữu của vật, con vật.
Ex : 	The man is our teacher. His book is on the table.
 	" The man whose book is on the table is our teacher.
You are sitting the chair. The leg of the chair was broken yesterday.
" You are sitting the chair of which the leg was broken yesterday.
Hoặc " You are sitting the chair whose leg was broken yesterday.
2) Adverb clauses of concession ( Mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ sự nhượng bộ)
-Mệnh đề trạng ngữ chỉ sự nhượng bộ bắt đầu bằng though, although, even though
Ex: 	+ Although Loan is very tired, she tries to finish her work.
+ I like him even though he can be ennoying.
+ Nam likes Hoa very much though she doesn’t like him.

 Đại từ quan hệ : WHO,WHOM, WHICH, THAT
 * Phải dùng “that” trong các trường hợp sau
Cụm danh từ hỗn hợp chỉ người và vật
Ex: The girls and flowers that he painted were vivid.
They saw the men and women and cattle that went to the field.
Sau tính từ so sánh nhất và the first, the last, the only
Eg: She is the ugliest girl that I’ve ever seen.
Sau các đại từ bất định all, nothing, nobody, anything, much, little
Ex: 	+ I have never seen anyone that is as lovely as she.
+ Much that I have ever seen is interesting.
Note: *Không được dùng “that” trong các trường hợp sau
a) Có giới từ đứng trước đại từ quan hệ.
The house in which I live is my father’s. Câu này có giới từ IN *Không được dùng “that” để thay thế cho in which
 b) Mệnh đề quan hệ không giới hạn ( non- defining )
Vietnam, which is on the south-east Asia, exports rice. 
 " (which is on the south-east Asia ) là mệnh đề không giới hạn *Không được dùng “that” để thay thế cho which

TRADITIONS AND CUSTOMS IN GREAT BRITAIN
	Every nation and every country has its own customs and traditions. In Britain traditions play a more important part in the life of the people than in other countries. Englishmen are proud of their traditions and carefully keep them up
	It has been the law for about 300 years that all theatres are closed on Sundays. No letters are delivered, only a few Sunday papers are published
	To this day an English family prefers a house with a garden to a flat in a modern house with central heating. English people like gardens. Sometimes the garden in front of the house is a little square covered with cement painted garden in imitation of grass and a box of flowers.
	Holidays are especially rich in old traditions and are different in Scotland, Ireland, Wales and England. Christmas is a great English national holiday, and in Scotland it is not kept, except by clerks in banks, all shops and factories are working.

	Once upon a time a genie was trapped in a bottle. She was tired and uncomfortable and wished she could be free. Frankly, she had a lot of things to do, and she was plainly bored in the bottle.
	One day a man was walking along the beach when he discovered an interesting looking bottle. He picked it up and started to rub it without paying attention. He was thinking about other things.
	Suddenly the genie popped out of the bottle. “Oh, thank you for freeing me,” she said. Make three wishes and they will come true. “ So the man thought for a while and then said, “ I wish I lived on an island with fifty beautiful women. “ Zap”. His wish came to.
	After a while he got tired of his island and he said, “ I wish I had a Cadilla car.” Zap. His wish came true.
	He got on his car and turned on the radio. He loved to sing a long with all the hit songs. He was singing and drinking and thinking about his last wish when the radio began to play the commercial for Happy Valley hot dogs. With a smile on his face, he began to sing along. “Oh, I wish I were a Happy Valley hot dog, because everyone would be in love with me. ” Zap. His wish came true.
