III) Procedures: 1)Warm-up : (5’) Have Ss remind three forms and how to use the past progressive tense Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Content Activity 1 : (32’) - Have Ss remind three forms and how to use this tense (+) : Affirmative form (-) : Negative form (?) : Interrogative form - T introduces and explains - Teacher asks students to give some examples - T shows the examples on the board * T continues to introduce how to use “always” in continuous tense - T corrects Activity 2: * Give the task 1 to students - Explain the task - Have students do exercises - Call some Ss write the answers on the board - Call other Ss to read in front of class loudly - Correct and give feedback Activity 3: * Give the task 2 to students - Explain the task 2 - Introduce Past progressive tense with When and While - Call some Ss write result on the board - Correct and give comments - Ss close their books - Then they discuss with their classmates - Ss say in front of class - Ss concentrate and listen - Ss give examples - Ss copy the examples into their notebooks - Ss say example in front of class - Ss copy into their notebooks * Ss concentrate and listen - Ss take notes - Ss exchange with their partners - Then go to the board and give result - Some students repeat - Ss copy * Ss take notes - Students listen - Work in pairs to do the task. - Give out the answers. - Copy the answers into notebooks * The past progressive tense * Form : (+) : S + was / were + V-ing (-) : S + wasn’t / weren’t + V-ing (?) : Was / Were + S + V-ing ? * Usage : a) Dùng để diển tả một hành động đang xảy ra tại một thời điểm cụ thể trong quá khứ ( th/g được xác định) Ex: Ba was doing his homework at 7 o’clock yesterday evening. b) Dùng để diển tả một hành động đang xảy ra thì có một hành động khác xen vào (cả 2 hành động đều ở quá khứ) Ex : Last night Mary was watching TV, the telephone rang. c) Dùng để diển tả 2 hoặc nhiều hành động cùng xảy ra một lúc trong quá khứ Ex : Last Sunday while I was playing chess with Nam,my father was talking to his friends. * Progressive tenses with always. “always” được dùng với thì tiếp diễn để diển tả một sự việc thường xuyên xảy ra với sự không hài lòng, hay than phiền Ex : Phong was always talking in class.
